Structural Shelter Multiobjective Optimization

This studio was delivered at the University of Tehran as the third Architecture Design course in the master’s program in Architecture and Technology. Its subject was the design of a structural roof for Azadi Stadium. The stadium was left partially unfinished before the Iranian Revolution, and its upper enclosure was never completed. Students began with digital sketches for the roof, informed by the stadium architect’s likely design intentions. They then evaluated a range of optimization methods and selected an approach for refining the structural proposal. Multi-objective optimization was pursued primarily through evolutionary methods, including genetic algorithms.
